If you are searching for the perfect non-golf course community for a second home or for a full-time residence, La Quinta has one of the best selections of communities in the Coachella Valley. The City of La Quinta is a resort town located in Riverside County, California, specifically in the Coachella Valley between Indian Wells and Indio. La Quinta is almost entirely surrounded by the Santa Rosa Mountains making for specular views from almost anywhere within the city. The name of the city, in Spanish, literally translates into “the fifth”, but also in Portuguese, a “quinta” is a wine producing estate, which can be a winery or a vineyard.

Acacia At La Quinta

Acacia at La Quinta is a non-gated community in North La Quinta made up of single-level and two-story homes built between 1990 and 1994.  Homes range in size from 1,280 to 2,355 sf and have two to five bedrooms.  There is no HOA for Acacia at La Quinta.

Aliso

Aliso is a small, gated community in North La Quinta made of three and four bedroom homes.  Built from 2000 to 2001, the homes range in size from 1,500 to over 2,000 sf. and HOAs are $95 per month (this is subject to change).

Cordoniz in South La Quinta, California is a private gated community of affordable homes ranging in size from 1,250 to 1,731 sf.  The neighborhood is made up of homes with Mediterranean influences.  Popular with snowbirds, this community is well-known for its full-service homeowners’ association that provides a community pool, outdoor fireplace and spa, and 23 lighted tennis courts, in addition to championship golf very nearby at PGA West and SilverRock Resorts. Griffin Ranch

Griffin Ranch is a newer high-end luxury neighborhood located on 240 acres in a master-planned equestrian community built in 2005 in South La Quinta.  The 24-hour guard gated community offers a pastoral setting, including regal and dignified wooden gates, equestrian white fences, bridges, and a stream, with lush landscaping throughout the community.  Offered in eleven-floor plans from 3,271 to 4,820 sf, the homes are the ultimate in luxurious living, with high ceilings, high-end finishes, and lovely courtyards and every home offers fabulous views of the golf course and mountains.  Many of the homes also offer detached casitas. La Cantera

La Cantera is a small exclusive gated community in South La Quinta made up of 59 single-family homes.  Built in 2005 and 2006, La Cantera offers homes ranging in size from 2,297 to 3,500 sf, with three to four bedrooms.  The homes are offered in both single and two-story models.  With no expensive clubhouse or golf course to support, HOAs are low, at $240 per month (subject to change).  Cantera is just across the street from public golf courses and country clubs, as well as world-class shopping and dining in Old Town La Quinta and El Paseo, the valley’s own “Rodeo Drive”.

Piazza Serena is a lovely, peaceful gated community in South La Quinta with 58 homes ranging in size from 2,690 to 3,494 sf, and three to five bedrooms in three floor plans.  Some plans offer an optional 4 -car garage, and prices range from the $500Ks to the $600Ks.  Built in 2005, Piazza Serena is adjacent to Andalusia Country Club.  It offers a resort lifestyle without the high cost of a clubhouse or golf course.  This allows HOA’s to be very low, at $102 per month.

Puerta Azul

Puerta Azul is a quaint community of 126 villa-style homes close to the famous La Quinta Resort and Spa in South Palm Desert.  The neighborhood is nestled up against the majestic Santa Rosa mountains, with the homes and lush landscaping built with a Spanish flair.  The cobblestone courtyards add an old-world feel to the entire community.  Built between 2004 and 2005, the homes range in size from 1,372 to 1,780 sf.  Four models are offered, clustered in groups of four or six homes, many with pools and spas.  The community also offers community pools, tennis courts, bocce courts and a fitness center.
